Connecting SolarWinds to Cisco FirePOWER using eStreamer

$

We have a Cisco FirePOWER unit that we want to poll information from and place in a dashboard so that it is easy to see what is going on with FirePOWER. I have been looking and haven't found too much information on how to connect these two applications, but one thing that seems like it would work would be to connect using eStreamer. Does anyone know if this is an option or not and if so how to implement it? If its not an option is there any other way to display FirePOWER information in SolarWinds?

Thanks in advance!

Forwarding raw logs to QRadar

We are attempting to forward logs from LEM to QRadar because of bandwidth concerns. Previously, we used IBM's WinCollect agent to send them directly to the QRadar collectors. However, the subsidiary that we support is asking if they can forward their logs going to LEM to QRadar directly to save on some bandwidth. We have setup log forwarding but it appears as though LEM is normalizing and adding foreign fields to the syslog instead of forwarding the Windows Security and Events log direct without normalization.

Is there an easy way to do this without redeveloping one or both solutions?

Full or incremental backup?

Ok, I'm aware of the built-in backup capability of LEM using archiveconfig. I'm also aware that if the backup is scheduled, the first backup is a full backup whereas any subsequent backups are incremental backups. Now, let's say that I perform a one-time backup using archiveconfig. Then, in the near future, I perform another one-time backup but this time, I specify a different path for the backup destination. Will this second one-time backup perform a full backup or pick up from where the first one-time backup left off, even though it's a different path?

Hi,

I have a Cisco Firepower virtual appliance, and try to see log into LEM. I have configure Syslog as I found here : Configure a FireSIGHT System to Send Alerts to an External Syslog Server - Cisco

On the LEM side, I cannot found any log, or information. I try to reconfigure the connector, but without success.

Any one have installed LEM and Firepower.

More info :

Asa with FP module - Connect to Firepower applicance

Firepower Appliance - Same vlan that ASA, and LEM

Dear All,

I have integrated web application firewall with soalrwinds LEM which is currently generating very high traffic,Did any one know if we can able to get filtered logs from Barracuda web firewall by either changing configuration on barracuda firewall or solarwinds LEM.

Barracuda web firewall  shall only forwards logs that have specific keywords in it.

Migrate VMWare appliance to HyperV

Hi,

Our company is switching from VMWare to HyperV. Is there any experience with migrating LEM?

Can i just make a backup of the VMWare appliance and restore it on a HyperV appliance?

Is there a list of LEM Best Practices, or Most Common Rules?

I tried searching for Best Practices, but only found a few documents.  Is there a site for LEM Best Practices, common rules, or implementation suggestions?  What do you feel is your best rule?  Thanks in advance!!

Supported Hyper-V for LEM

Good day.

Would like to confirm if we can install LEM on HyperV but running on Windows Server 2016 Standard.

It was written in LEM datasheet that supported OS are as follows:

Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2008 Release 2 (R2)

Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012

Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 R2

And during the installation in HyperV (OS is Windows Server 2016), we could not find the VM after running the LEM installer.

Appreciate your comments. Thank you.

Backup and restore facility for LEM

We have PCI-DSS requirement that we need to store 1 year data into an archive storage then restore the last three month data. How can we be able to populate the 3 month data and load into LEM web interface?

Removed Crystal Reports runtime and LEM reports 6.4.0 to fix error... now no installer will reinstall the crystal reports runtime!

In trying to fix the external reporting application I removed Crystal Reports Runtime v11 and the LEM Reporting tool.  Now I've tried the original installer from the All-In-One bundle and even downloaded the 6.4.0 so called ReportsandCrystal.exe installer.  No matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall this the crystal reports runtime never shows up installed at all now.  Does anyone understand why the crystal reports runtime won't install now?  The installer even says it's task is to install crystal reports runtime but it never installs... I look in programs and features and it's just NOT THERE!

N-Central + ELK Stack

Hi,

I'm new on platform and tried to get some kind of idea on what goes where. Couldn't figure out so I just used new post -button to see how things work.

I'm currently evaluating N-Central as a ground-solution for my endpoints (100+ device environment) I tried to do some searching on if there is a way to data out from N-Central and to ELK Stack which functions as a central SIEM. All experience regarding this subject is more than welcome.

Cheers!

List of default SEM Reports with report description

Where can I find a list of the current default reports?

There used to be a list of default reports with descriptions available for LEM. I cannot find it now. The page redirects to a search.

Does anyone have this list or a link to it?

Edit User Password and Profile

This seem really trivial however I am new to using SolarWinds LEM and when I try to change a user's password or profile information after changes have been made there is no way to save the changes.  The "Save" button is greyed out.  Can anybody help me.

Regex to match all user logins with exception.

In Syslog viewer I'm trying to setup a Syslog message pattern to match when a user logs into a cisco device and exclude 1 user.

I know that doing *Login Success* matches on any user login but I want to exclude a single user login.

This pattern works to match all users except for "solarwinds" in a regex tester but doesn't seem to work when applied to my syslog rule.

.*Login Success \[user: (?!solarwinds).*

The syslog message is something like this.

1556: 001556:   Login Success [user: solarwinds] [Source: 1.1.1.1] [localport: 22] at 09:00:00 EDT Mon Jan 15 2019

Regex tester I'm using is http://regexr.com

EventDSC.log

This file located in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ContegoSPOP\lib has grown to 42GB and is causing the C drive on one of our servers to run out of space.

On other servers the file is only 7 kb and we are at a lost as to what caused this. Any insight into this would be appreciated.

Issues of agent upgrade from Trigeo 5.0 to "log & event management"

$

The background, we have installed a new vm server - "log & event management", I use the fixed manager - swi-lem login "log & event management" console, our old Trigeo 5.0 server uses trigeo-companyname as manager (the old name displays and error in success agent installation log below).

Issue: The Nodes picture below describes all nodes connected to the “Log & Event Manager”, I found whatever approaches I use, no any previous version agents (or node IP/name) displays here.

I tried to uninstall previous agent with previous (5.0) remote uninstall management – Failed, as no previous agent was found by the  remote uninstall management tool.

Tired to install the last agent followed with guideline on page 10 of user guide. – Success with following log below. But node doesn’t display in “Log & Event Manager”.

Same for uninstall and reinstall the new version agent on old agent existed servers.

By the way, I can’t remove 192.168.201.2 and 192.168.167.1, their logs bothering me a lot, they will appear again after deleted from the nodes list, they are not the IPs we mean to monitor, I'm not sure where they come from, they appears right after the console installation completed.

i am trying to get all log messages from the LEM reports. I installed the Reports and Crystal runtime file on my computer which was not a big issue. But everytime i try to add a manager i can"t ping the connection. Gives me the error that Ping failed. I ignored the ping error and continued to run the a report. But then i get this error telling me that the logon failed with an error code.

Logon Failed.PNG

I did some research and found a few thing about this issue. I already all those thing but nothing so far. I am still using the trial version which i don't think should be the issue.

Need your help guys.
